Lobby Ministry
Christmas Ministry
Families and love ones of the inmates receive refreshments, Bibles, and prayer from a team of volunteers during visitation hours.
Men and women volunteers giving special attention to inmate’s on an individual bases. Some long term inmates that show desire to grow in the word may enter into 10 weeks of discipleship.
Christmas Gifts for Children of inmates
Some kids have the misfortune of having a parent incarcerated over
Christmas. This may be the best time of the year to share God’s love.
“Gifts for kids” is like “Angel Tree” for Clark County inmates.
How does this work?
1) How many kids you want to sponsor?
2) I will contact you by FAX, email, or phone number with the detailed information by December the 16th. (Why so late?) Imagine helping those in the hospital over Christmas. Inmates are arrested daily, released every day, and or sent to prison. We found that if we do this too soon we end up missing a lot of inmates.
3) Once you have received the inmate’s information. You will make contact with the caregiver of the children and gather information. i.e. when and where the gifts can be picked up or delivered. Sizes, ages, boy or girl, ect…
4) Shop for items and deliver. Delivery may be made to the home, or you could set up a meeting at your church.
Some of the things given in the past were food items (turkey, hams, fruit baskets, and cookies), toys (radios, Christian CDs, remote control cars, leap frog), clothing (coats, winter apparel, watches), and Christian literature (Children’s Bibles). You may want to include your church information, set up a possible follow up, and take pictures. Again these are some ideas, so feel free to recruit church members, Sunday School class, make things, ask local merchants for donations or whatever, the sky is the limit.
Directions: call jail 521-2079 or ccjailchaplaincy@aol.com. Let me know how many you will sponsor. Leave your fax, email, and phone number (if you only have phone that’s fine, but I would prefer to fax or email if possible)
Other Christmas ministry
Chocolate Chip Cookies
The inmates love the cookies. You would need to put 4 chocolate chip cookies in a zip lock or sandwich bag along with a scripture verse. If you would like to, you can add information about your church. Each inmate will get a baggie. We would need about 300 baggies total for the Jail and Juvenile Detention Center.
Underwear
Men and women's. Must be all white
T-shirts
All white crew neck.
Book of Stamps
Stamps are needed for postage to send Christmas cards to love ones from inmates. We do have enough Christmas Cards. 15 books or 270 stamps.
Special Literature
We are blessed with an abundance of magazines, Guideposts, Daily Breads, and other Sunday School materials, but if you would like to donate a new Bible, books like the Left Behind series, “Divine Revelation of Hell” “Women Thou art Loosed”, books on Prophecy, Heaven or Hell, addiction, or something of interest for an inmate.
Deputies
In the past we have had bake goods and law enforcement Bibles, but we are open for ideas.
Close to 4,000 inmates will attend services this year. Inmates will receive relevant teaching on Spiritual Growth, prayer, and many other life changing topics.
Services are held by volunteers representing many churches from around the City and County.
Passout Day
Four Saturdays a year the entire jail is open for the Chaplaincy to passout donations of cookies, Bibles/ Literature, and underwear. The gifts create great opportunities of sharing.
